I admire how incredibly brave you are. Not having children and struggling with confidence means I also find difficulty meeting people to be friends with. I often feel on the outside looking in but I wonder if people have Penpals nowadays x

I had trouble in mid 30's when I moved just an HR away many women were having families and I was still single. I managed to find good friends in a couple Stitch n Bitch groups. Not just for matronly ladies anymore :). Since you've started knitting, maybe try that route? You can check Ravelry.com community tab and search for groups that meet in your area.

How have I never heard of a stitch and bitch group! That sounds fun, I’m looking it up as we speak. Thank you 🙏

Look up Debbie Stoller. She revived stitch n bitch groups for women around 2000. SHe's a women's psychology Prof and 3rd wave feminist, meaning she felt that women in the 70's and 80's had to give up some feminine activities to be seen as equals and lost some things they should reclaim, like needle arts, cooking, canning, etc groups that brought women together for support. SHe wrote the book "Stitch N Bitch" 20something me and my friends all got it,taught ourselves to knit & got grouping!

I honestly think that if you were meeting someone for the first time you’d try really hard not to say anything controversial! Better luck next time 🙏

Hi Jess, I don’t know if you saw the article on the BBC News website about the Lonely Girls clubs, they’re all over the country. It’s dated 7th Feb, worth a read. If you search on BBC News it’s comes up, I can’t do links yet! 😂
