The story behind a whippet-themed project I’ve been working on
Sighthound lovers, this one’s for you!
Some of you might remember that a few years ago Jess the Dog and I went through a YouTube phase. I’ve always loved watching other YouTube creators’ channels and I wanted to try creating more long-form videos so we threw ourselves into it with gusto. In the end, it turned out that the content treadmill was too demanding and between Jess’s higher needs and my ADHD we couldn’t keep up with producing a full video each week.
But it was all worth it because a couple of years ago I got an Instagram message out of the blue from a woman called Emily. She runs a jewellery business called Milly Grace alongside her partner, Ben and her whippet, Maggie, and she was excited to tell me that I was wearing her earrings in one of my videos. (In fact, I was wearing them in nearly all of them - little did she know I hadn’t taken them off for months). We’ve been in touch ever since, united by a love of whippets and sustainable jewellery.
For the last six months Emily and I have been working on an exciting project together. I’ve been so full of beans about this that I’ve struggled to keep it under wraps so I’m relieved and delighted to be sharing it with you now. We’ve designed a pair of ✨whippet Huggies✨ that I can’t wait for you to see*!
*I’m overstating my role here - Emily designed them and I sent lots of enthusiastic thumbs up messages
I got to try them on in person this week and they are so perfect that I never want to take them off again. Emily captured the sighthound pose perfectly (we all know the one) and they remind me so much of my beautiful pups. I know that you’re really going to love them.
The best news about this whole project is that £10 from the sale of each pair of earrings will be donated to Stokenchurch Dog Rescue. As you can imagine, I’m over the moon about this. Stokenchurch are a small charity so a £10 donation goes a significant way toward the care of their dogs. Emily and I stopped by the rescue on Friday to meet some of the dogs who will benefit from this partnership. She and her partner Ben drove four hours each way to volunteer walking dogs with me - I think we can agree they are heroes.
Here’s the most important thing: this is a limited edition drop. Milly Grace are a company with sustainability at their core so, to limit waste, there will be a seven day window where you can place a pre-order. After that, it’s gone. If you’re anything like me you’ll need a reminder so you can see more info about the earrings and sign up to get notified here.
I’ve worn Milly Grace earrings nearly every day for the past four years (I only take them out to change them) so I know that the quality and the detail is top notch. I’m pinching myself that now I can finally have a pair with long dogs on them.
Keep an eye on our Instagram accounts because we’ll be sharing some stories from Stokenchurch this week. I can’t wait to swamp the world with whippet earrings and be matchy-matchy with you all 😍
What an awesome collaboration!
How lovely!!
